In situ Duo Composition — Songs from the Earth Concert
[Fondation des Etats-Unis, Paris, France]. The Fondation des États-Unis will host Songs from the Earth, a closing concert by composer-in-residence Dayton Hare, on June 27, 2025, in Paris.
This concluding recital for the 2024–2025 Harriet Hale Woolley scholarship year explores human soundscapes and the climate crisis, featuring the world premiere of "how to be both" for prepared piano and live electronics. This piece is a multidisciplinary collaboration and features a monumental, three-part in-situ artwork in the Grand Salon by fellow artist-in-residence EiMO, created specifically to dialogue with the music and reflect these coexisting worlds.
"how to be both" music is performed by Ariela Bohrod and Gabriel Newsham (prepared piano four-hands) and, Dayton Hare (live electronics).
"how to be both" a three-part in-situ artwork is displayed as follow
- 240 cm × 320 cm x 15 cm – acrylic, mixed media, steel wire on canvas and external steel wires of ten meters connecting the painting located in the Balcony of the Grand Salon to the Grand piano on stage.
- 1000 cm x 50 cm – charcoal, sanguine and ink on rice paper3. suspended moment.
- 100 cm × 100 cm x 4 cm – acrylic on canvas.
